In our experience a successful conference or church weekend requires a change of environment. Making the effort to travel to a new location for a period of time, where there is tranquility and space gives added benefit. De Betteld is located in the green heart of the Achterhoek region and this offers an atmosphere that is so relaxing for your guests.

The Achterhoek region is located on the central east side of the Netherlands. Zelhem is easily reached by the A12 and A18 highways. The nearest train station is at Doetinchem or Ruurlo and the railway system is excellent in the Netherlands.
Your conference location is surrounded by many woods and is in a beautiful coulisse landscape. The Achterhoek and Graafschap regions offer you lots of space to relax or tour.
The city of Bronckhorst has been preserved as the smallest town of the Netherlands. It is located at the IJssel river and even has it's own ferry. You may also find the Charles Dickens museum here.
The centre of Aalten is a protected historical village, Lochem is beautifully situated in the slanting landscape and Doesburg has a wonderful historical town centre with it's dated frontage. The city of Vorden is renowned for it's 8 castles.
The city of Doesburg still has ancient crafts being used. Especially famous is the mustard making, but you may also see the manufacture of wooden shoes, cheese and wooden carvings.
The maze at Ruurlo is the largest maze in Western Europe and there is the opportunity to take a tilt car ride through the region.
Being very rural you will find nature reserves like De leemputten which is in Eibergen or the gardens of De Wiersse, throughout the Achterhoek region there are many ANWB tourist routes which we are able to advise you on.
You are also able to take the opportunity of fishing or visiting nearby castles, children's farms, museums, recreational lakes, mini golf, amusement parks, aquariums, walk through nature trails, swimming pools, Burgers Zoo or the open air museum in Arnhem.
